An example of the type and size of project UWC can now perform is the demolition of a large hospital in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The project was on the waterfront so extreme care had to be taken with regards to environmental issues. The project was multi-faceted and included total demolition of the hospital, asbestos abatement of all asbestos containing materials, onsite concrete crushing, equipment salvage and scrap metal recycling. The project was completed without issue, on schedule and the client was extremely pleased with the professional work accomplished. Easy to Scrap Your Old Car

Scrapping your junk car / vehicle at Universal Recycling & Scrap Iron Corp. is as easy as “1,2,3”  Whether you bring the vehicle to us or need it picked up we make this process as simple as possible for you.

Upon arrival, your vehicle is weighed on our “big scale” which has a digital read out for you to see your weight.  Once weighed you get paid!  After collecting some information you are assigned a customer number so we can easily track you and your “scrapping history”.  After just a few minutes we pay you cash on the spot for your vehicle. 

Now that your vehicle has been brought in as scrap, our knowledgeable and experienced staff begins to “Detox” the vehicle.  The vehicle is hoisted up so fluids, including but not limited to; gasoline, transmission fluid, oil and anti-freeze can be drained and properly recycled.  Once completely drained, the engine, battery, radiator, tires and catalytic converter are removed for further recycling.  After the car is completely stripped it is loaded into a trailer and shipped to a mill for further processing.

• Before the 2003 model year, some vehicles that were manufactured were found to contain mercury auto switches, used in convenience lighting and antilock braking systems. Recyclers remove and recycle this mercury before the vehicles are shredded to prevent it from escaping into the environment.

Demolition Equipment

One of the most common pieces of equipment used in the demolition industry is an Excavator with a Shear.

Recently,Universal Wrecking Corp. has added a CAT330 Excavator with a LaBounty UP70 to our fleet of equipment.  The LaBounty Universal Processor is an amazing piece of equipment that has assisted our demolition crews to work safely, quickly and more efficiently.

The UP70 has three separate jaws allowing for various capabilities. First, there is “Shear jaw” which is used to cut steel.  Second, there is a “Concrete Pulverizing Jaw” which is used to downsize big concrete to small concrete.  Lastly, there is a “Concrete Cracking Jaw” which is used to crack large pieces of concrete.

Since acquiring the excavator with the UP 70 we have been completing jobs weeks before completion dead-lines and have even saved on job costs.

Universal Wrecking Corp. Opens Texas Branch Office

Universal Wrecking Corp is pleased to announce the opening of their Texas branch office which is located at 8201 FM 2300 South, Pampa Texas 79065 (806) 416-0655. The branch office was setup to manage the recent large power plant project awarded to Univeral Wrecking Corp (UWC) by the Pampa EDC.

The Pampa EDC awarded the demolition of the existing coal fired boiler facility which included demolition of the coal fired boilers and all ancillary equipment at the PEC site in Pampa, Texas. It is expected that the demolition project will be completed by the end of 2012. There is a significant amount of scrap metal to be recycled at the site which includes copper, steel and stainless steel. There is also a large amount of used equipment that will be salvaged and sold.

The UWC Texas branch office will also serve the entire Texas area and surrounding states providing a complete suite of contractor services including building demolition, decommissioning, salvage, interior demolition, used equipment sales and scrap metal recycling. Universal Recycling & Scrap Iron Corp

A subsidiary of Universal Wrecking Corp., recently took over ownership and operation of the former Cosmos Green Acres scrap yard located at 23 Double Trouble Road, Bayville, NJ 08721. Hours of operation are M – F 7am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.

Universal Recycling & Scrap Iron Corp. (URSI) plans to transform the 16 acre site into a state of the art scrap recycling facility that accepts non-ferrous and ferrous scrap metals as well as scrap autos, trucks, trailers and heavy equipment. URSI has installed (2) 70 foot, 100 ton certified truck scales and (2) smaller platform scales.
