3,000 Tons of Scrap Metal Recycled

Universal Wrecking recently completed a project that required the recycling of various types of scrap material. Prior to starting the project, estimators visited the site and performed take-offs for the client of each type of scrap material that needed to be processed and shipped for recycling. When performing scrap metal recycling projects the material has many classifications / categories. Examples of different types of steel are listed below:

After performing the site visit and take-offs (an industry term for estimating timeframes and quantities for a project) we were able to provide the customer with a detailed comprehensive estimate. The estimate listed and identified what the scrap value would be for the project based on the current market at that time and how it could offset the cost to perform the work. Based on the provided information the customer decided to proceed with the work.

UWC mobilized various machines to perform the work consisting of a Cat 345 Excavator equipped with a Labounty R100 Shear, Cat 350 Excavator equipped with a Labounty 3500R Shear, Cat 330 Excavator equipped with interchangeable attachments including a grapple, 2500R Shear and magnet to be utilized for final cleanup of processed steel. All material was processed, loaded, weighed and shipped to nearby recycling facilities.

The project resulted in a total of approx. 3,000 tons of various scrap material being recycled.

The combination of the equipment mobilized and Universal Wrecking’s experience trained crews allowed for the project to be performed safely, efficiently and completed ahead of schedule. The customer was very satisfied with the performance of the project.
